Trail Report

This is what we live for.  We have great snow on the ground  more on the way and some cold temps coming up.  This  should set up the trails for a great season.
I went out to do a little exploring on thursday in the deep.  We ran the lower fields and up pizzalli's trail and it was deep on top of ward hill.

Plan on getting stuck if you are not on the groomers.

All the trails have been packed. Lots of snow everywhere. The groomers are working on grooming with a drag. We will keep you posted. Let it snow!  Let it snow!  Get out and ride.

New Year’s Day Hotdog Roast: The event starts at 12 in the gravel pit. Bring your own hotdogs and something to share. Condiments will be provided.

Happy Riding

Trails Update: The groomers went on Thursday and Friday. Thanks Skip and P-Nut.   Higher elevation trails  The following trails have been groomed the past two days. From Que Vasseur to the  Waterbury Bridge, the Log Job and Huntington. All are in good condition with sufficient snow. Get out and ride. Access from the gravel pit is good.   The reroute of Rt100 corridor from the Duxbury Store to junction WN58-at the outhouse has not been groomed. We presume cover is thin. Also coverage is very thin from the store to Harwood. This trail is not currently recommended for use.   Lower elevations : Cover is  very thin through the fields, but passable.  Getting down into town is very questionable and not recommended.     Come join us for our monthly meeting. Up for discussion & planning the Club Day Ride February 11th and Community Sledding Party February 25th.     Event: Club Meeting  Day:  Tuesday, February 7th , 2012 Time: 7:00 pm Place: Mad River Ambulance Building, Waitsfield, VT   Cari Wilson MRRR President

Dinner

Doug took a test ride this morning.  Trails are sufficient between Apps -Steph &Janis’s and Dinner-Doug & Cari’s.  Folks should be able to ride from Kenyon’s. Meet at 5:00pm  It will be thin, but passable.  Riding sleds down to Orr’s will be questionable. Especially if the sun shines on the 1in of fluff.

Our plan is to ride, but we may drive to the Orr’s depending on what the afternoon brings.

We will have two six-wheelers available for transporting people to Steph &Janis’s.
Both the Orr’s and Wilson’s driveways will be sanded.

5:00 pm meet at Kenyon’s--- I am not sure how many will come that    way due the conditions.  We do not plan to ride down to meet folks.
  Here is the lineup:
5:30 pm Hors d’oeuvre at Stephanie & Janis’s off of Sharp Shooters
Road go through the pit and go straight.
7:00 pm Dinner at Doug & Cari’s off Rt 17 near Kew Vassuer Road.
8:30 pm Dessert at Reggie & Kathi’s off Rt 17F toward the village.

We are all looking forward to a fun evening. See you there.

Trails update

OOPS!! LET ME TRY THIS AGAIN……. Doug and I had a miscommunication. Trails Update: Last week the groomers went out with the compactor bar only. Then the rain hit……..bummer.  The cold weather that followed will help set up a nice base WHEN we get some more snow.

Higher elevation trails  All trails have been over with the compactor bar and the water bars are frozen. There is early season riding.

Lower elevations : Last week the groomers went out with the compactor bar only. Cover is thin, but passable.  The groomer has not been across the valley floor.

Northfield and Waterbury Clubs are in about the same shape we are, compacted with early season riding.  The bridge in Waterbury is open again.

Great news, through the hard work and generosity or old and new land owners we have rerouted Rt100 corridor from the Duxbury Store to junction WN58-at the outhouse. The reroute will be groomed the a 4’ drag only, we are hoping to widen it at some time. Please limit the late night riding, parts of the trial are close to several homes. Thank you for your courtesy.

Camel’s Hump loop will be closed for the season due to flood damage.

Think SNOW…. Lots  of it!

Sorry for the mix up, but this is much better.
