Trail update 1/28/13

Trail Update

Well at the least things have frozen up since the thaw. The trails are a bit thin in places, but are in relatively good shape. Skip  groomed the log job and the upper side of Camel’s Hump this week. Not much snow to work with.  Riding is ok in the higher evaluation.  You should consider it decent early season riding.

Doug road the fields up to the Huntington turn yesterday. Thin in places, water-bars to take care with, but relatively flat. He thought it would be bare going down town so you will want to avoid that.  Also Northfield has not been out grooming.

Caution: Some of the water-bars had opened up again in the thaw.  It may be frozen, but we need snow to fill them in. There was a large bog hole on the goat path down to the Duxbury Store, you may want to avoid this area till conditions improve.

grooming report New years day

Happy New Year!!!
Do not forget the New Year’s Day Hotdog Roast: The event starts at 12 in the gravel pit. Bring your own hotdogs and something to share. Condiments will be provided.

Trail Update

The groomers to date have run approximately 60 hours since the arrival of the beautiful snow last week!! Riders need to remember that even though we have a lot of snow the waterbars are still open. Also keep in mind that it takes time for new snow to settle down into a hard trail no matter how quickly the groomers get out.

*The Kew Vasseur RD to Duxbury store has been packed once and
  groomed with the drag twice
*Northfield has been packed once and groomed with the drag once
*Irasville has been packed once and groomed once
*Huntington has been packed once ( Will need to be packed again
before there is enough traction to pull the drag over)
*Camels hump loop has been packed on the park side once
*Camels hump loop has been packed on the Duxbury side twice
*Pizzalis trail has been packed once

The general grooming plan for New Year’s day is to pack the park side of Camel’s for a second time.  The trail from Kew Vasseur to log job and Pizzale’s will be groomed with the drag

The only section that is not broken open is the goat path by the Duxbury Store.  We do need somebody to break this out this section. There may also be trees down in this section. We believe that the swamp right next to Rt 100 is still not frozen.

We will keep you posted. Let it snow!  Let it snow!  Get out and ride.

Trail Report

This is what we live for.  We have great snow on the ground  more on the way and some cold temps coming up.  This  should set up the trails for a great season.
I went out to do a little exploring on thursday in the deep.  We ran the lower fields and up pizzalli's trail and it was deep on top of ward hill.

Plan on getting stuck if you are not on the groomers.

All the trails have been packed. Lots of snow everywhere. The groomers are working on grooming with a drag. We will keep you posted. Let it snow!  Let it snow!  Get out and ride.

New Year’s Day Hotdog Roast: The event starts at 12 in the gravel pit. Bring your own hotdogs and something to share. Condiments will be provided.
